Italian fashion house Marni is introducing a new collection of seating during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2012. Marni is working with local charities there to employ former Columbian prisoners and help them settle back into social and working life. They created all 100 of these chairs using metal and multi-colored PVC threads.
Known for their great color blocking, it is nice to see them translate this into these chairs.
Regardless of any political opinions on the current Syrian conflict, I could not help but be intrigued by the details obtained by The Guardian concerning the believed-to-be private e-mails of Syria’s president Bashar Al Assad and his wife Asma. In a few of these e-mails, their purchases were revealed most of which were home items and high end furniture, I have to complement Mrs. Assad on her taste, her home furnishings were mainly from Baker and Baxter. One question though, was she ordering them for her Syria house or where exactly?!
Being around furniture all the time and trying to be up to date on new releases from world renowned furniture brands, I thought it would be a great idea to point out a few of my favorite armchairs/ lounge chairs that were recently released.
One of my favorites now is the B&B Italia armchair “ Husk” by Patricia Urquiola. It is extremely comfortable, very trendy, and surprisingly made with recyclable and environmentally friendly materials. It can be in various colors and finishes and used as an outdoor piece as well.
From the latest Maison & Objet 2012 exhibition, I loved Baxter’s HOUSTON armchair with a cast aluminum body and a wooden base.The seat is made with soft feather cushions covered in soft leather.
Dedon Collaborated with Jean-Marie Massaud, one of the most popular architects in the world, and came up with “SeaX”. Ralph Lauren Home introduced the Desert Modern Collection this year made mainly using teak wood.I loved this Desert Modern Wood Club Chair from this collection.
Minotti is my all time favorite furniture brand. An armchair I love from their 2011 collection is the Jensen armchair by the famous architect Rodolfo Dordoni. It comes in a medium and high back and in various finishes, from Minotti’s luxurious leather to their wonderful fabric finishes. It also comes with an optional footstool.
Fendi Casa introduced in 2011 the Varenne Sofa and then the Elisabeth armchair which is considered a compliment to it. The Elisabeth is a form of club chair with arms resembling the horse saddle, one of Fendi’s iconic symbols.

French designer Cédric Dequidt presents Ferré, a new outdoor furniture collection for Roche Bobois, composed of a sofa, an armchair, a dining and a low table. The colorful structure is made of lacquered stainless steel tubes. Ferré will be exhibited in Paris at Maison&Objet 2012 next week.

And he does it again. One of the world’s most talented interior designers, Marcel Wanders, has teamed up with the newly launched Bisazza Bagno by Bisazza to create a beautiful range inspired by the “soap”. Introduced during the Cersaie 2011 exhibition, this line had exhibition visitors in awe. Bisazza Bagno was established this year, this is only their second collection after their collaboration with designer Jaime Hayon.
