Jacques Garcia Designs The NoMad Hotel in New York

NoMad-Hotel-Jacques-Garcia-New-York

I have not tried to recreate a moment in history. I have quite simply thought of the kinds of furniture we want to live with at home today, pieces that are elegant and  functional, comfortable, and convivial. “ ~ Jacques Garcia for Baker Furniture

French interior designer Jacques Garcia possesses a truly unique style, mixing 17th- and 18th-century references with modern influences to create a timeless interpretation of French elegance. From being an interior decorator for clients such as the Sultan of Brunei, to his high-profile re-creation of an 18th-century tea house for Ladurée on the Champs Elysées; and the design of the always relevant Hôtel Costes, his design is timeless. Jacques Garcia has renovated private and public spaces around the world, including many hotels in Paris and is one of Baker’s top designers. The NoMad Hotel is his first hotel in New York. The design draws from his private, idiosyncratic residences and is inspired by his time in Paris as a young man.

A Church Turned Into A Bookstore | Architecture

merkxgirodselexyzdominicanen4

Architecturally, this is a wonder, incorporating a bookstore within a 13th century Dominican cathedral in Maastricth, Holland is just magnificent. Since libraries are supposed to be quiet and serene, this sacred environment provides exactly that. According to MyModernMet, the architects at Merkx + Girod jumped at the opportunity to fuse the old with the new and created a design for Selexyz Dominicanen Maastricht that integrating a thoroughly modern bookstore within the preserved historic structure. The problem lies, however,  in the fact that libraries may soon be a place not many people will want to visit!

Magnificent House By SAOTA In South Africa| Residential design

Contemporary-residence-biflold-doors-665x441

I tend to prefer modern architecture and interiors over the more classic ones, mainly because of the spaciousness and cleanliness when well designed. This beautiful house is designed by SAOTA and is located in the most exclusive street in Cape Town, South Africa.

In addition to breathtaking architecture, this residence boasts  a stylish garden with outdoor living area set into the mountain face behind. The openness of the main living area to the terrace makes the seascape a major part of the interior.
