Adidas Facebook and Twitter Shoes Concept

British designer  Gerry Mckay has released two concept designs of Adidas’ Superstar trainers branded with the logos of popular social networking sites Facebook and Twitter.

Both shoes are purported to have the best insole. They feature the colors associated with the social media websites along with the logos on the heel. The words ‘Facebook is a social utility that connects you with the people around you’- are inscribed on the inside of the Facebook Superstar shoe.

Gerry McKay began working on the designs after gaining inspiration from Adidas’ release of other special edition trainers.

The Superstar has become an iconic shoe for the German company, making its first appearance in 1970.

In 2005 the company released limited edition Superstar designs to celebrate their 35th anniversary, including editions based on artists such as Missy Elliot, Run DMC and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Although currently they are only a concept, if the trainers go into production it will not be the first time Adidas has used a popular brand in their designs – earlier this year a Star Wars collection was unveiled that included Superstar Vintage Death Star trainers.

Before you get too disappointed that the shoes aren’t available for purchase. Personally I would go for the twitter design. Thank you @bilalhouri for the link via twitter 🙂
