Bocci has introduced a huge range of color in its 28 series collection. Creative Director Omer Arbel’s intent behind 28 was to design a system that produces form, rather than designing form itself. A magnificent success, the pendants are designed to cluster in hexagonal shapes, which nestle into one another. Ever since Hermès announced they introduced a furniture line in addition to a fabric and wallpaper line by Dedar, designers and fashion enthusiasts everywhere have been waiting anxiously to see them first hand. Yesterday I got the chance to see and feel their latest fabric and wallpaper to be available in the market VERY soon, at very selective places. The following images are a sneak peak of the magnificent collection, though the feeling is not the same as seeing them in person. You will notice the typical vibrant Hermes colors and patterns, their signature “bookcase” theme found in both wallpaper and fabric and in different tonalities, in addition to beautiful panel designs with the elephant pattern, fabrics with the famous “H”, and the iconic Hermès pattern shown above. I was actually pretty surprised at how big their debut collection is, and impressed with the magnificent quality and textures they worked with. Their first concern was to work with high quality threads and at some instances even used real horse hair! I will leave you with these beautiful images, a million creative ideas are going through my head as to how to incorporate them in a home’s interior *sigh*, enjoy!

Every year at around this time, designers of all fields await the results for next year’s color of the year. Pantone announced that for 2012, Tangerine Tango, a lively and radiant orange, will be the color of the year 2012. “Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

The color of the year selection is a very thoughtful process. To arrive at the selection, Pantone quite literally combs the world looking for color influences. Hilary Swank, award winning American actress, in an interview with Elle Décor stated that she believes a home doesn’t have to be as extravagant as a dream. “I feel comforted in smaller spaces,” she says. “They’re more nurturing.”
She hired designer Mark Zeff, with whom she’d worked previously on a New York brownstone and her California house. The two have a natural sympathy. “Hilary is very intense and also very pure,” says Zeff. “She knows what she likes. She doesn’t live in fantasy. I wanted to create a place that would give her a sense of grace and harmony.”
His options were limited, however, as Swank didn’t want any demolition or reconfiguration of the apartment, which is in a new building on the site of a former printing plant. Walls had to stay where they were; kitchen and bathrooms remained largely as is. Zeff’s first step was to furnish the rooms with serene, clean-lined pieces, many of which he chose from the Calvin Klein Home collection. “Calvin’s furniture has a strong modern sensibility without any tricks,” he explains. Then he layered in elements—historical, cultural, emotional, symbolic—to offset any sterility. Softly weathered barn wood reclaimed from a Pennsylvania farm clads one wall of the living area. The study’s shelves—custom-made built-in cabinetry designed by Zeff—are lined with artifacts: African headrests, hand-forged scissors, and sculptural Indian molds.

The first location for the Yotel Hotel outside of Europe is on West 42nd Street and 10th Avenue in Manhattan’s theater district. The YOTEL New York at Times Square is sleek, futuristic, and compact, inspired by luxury airline travel with a hint of Japanese influence. Most of the 669 “cabins” are 170-square-foot modular spaces, except the VIP Two Cabin suites, which measure 1,100 square feet and boast 180-degree panoramic views of the city.The project on Yotel Hotel NYC involves the collaboration of Rockwell Group and Softroom – UK-based design firm, it features 20,000 sqft of flexible and dynamic entertainment space including the largest hotel terrace in the city.
Rockwell group created this particular hospitality design with a series of façade, public spaces and guest rooms which will capture the senses of travelers who are always on the go and tech-savvy. Amenities include: Automated check in and out, Free WiFi, Monsoon showers with all over body wash, Flat screen TV’s, Workstations with multi power points.
It has a fully automated check-in service featuring the Yobot – theatrically lit robotic baggage drop-off machine. There is nothing classic about the Yotel Hotel NYC from the robot porter to the different amenities and even on its design everything is contemporary.
YOTEL was created by YO! Founder Simon Woodroffe OBE and YOTEL CEO Gerard Greene. The idea was conceived by Simon after he was upgraded into first class on a British Airways flight. He decided to translate the language and the luxury of airline travel and a touch of Japanese influence into a small but luxurious cabin.
Gerard had spent years staying in boring and expensive hotels and decided to do something about it. In 2002 he met with Simon, secured funding for a prototype cabin from our partners IFA Hotels & Resorts and then pulled together a team to evolve Simons idea into reality. Together they embarked on an incredible journey to to open the first airport hotel in 2007.
